NY Mets’ Jose Reyes Caught Sleeping

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 22: Jose Reyes #7 of the New York Mets celebrates after hitting a game tying two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies Citi Field on September 22, 2016 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. It’s not much of a surprise that the New York Mets are off to a rocky start this season considering the monumental amount of injuries incurred by the team but when a healthy player screws up it can drive a fan crazy.

Last night against the Braves, Jose Reyes did just that as he was tagged out walking back to second base after a routine pop out to right field.  Nick Markakis made a quick throw to Dansby Swanson and caught Reyes casually strolling back to the bag.  To say it was an embarrassing moment for the Mets infielder is an understatement.

Fortunately for Mets fans it may have been the wakeup call Jose needed.  As embarrassing as the play may have been Reyes did, however, get the last laugh as he finished the game with 5 RBIs propelling the Mets to an impressive 16-5 victory.
