A North Carolina man has been arrested for failing to return a 2002 VHS copy of Tom Green classic “Freddy Got Fingered.”
James Meyers, a local fine film aficionado, received the arrest warrant just yesterday. Meyers is charged with failure to return rental property, a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $200.
Alright, fair enough. But isn’t there a statute of limitations on return fees for stores that have already closed? Apparently not, because Meyers was still given an April 27 court date for failing to return the comedy.
It all started when a local officer pulled him over for a broken tail light. The officer ran his license and later asked Meyers to step out of the vehicle.
He said the officers were very polite, and couldn’t actually believe the warrant still showed up in the system. But, after turning himself in later that day, Meyers was surprised when officers arrested him.
In fucking handcuffs.
“Freddy Got Fingered” star Tom Green caught wind of this on Wednesday night and called Meyers to pledge his support. Meyers didn’t care.
