I don’t think this is a double standard, simply a misconception of the idels of a modern women. You have implied it is important for women to get married and to find love. You have implied that women want flowers, dinners, frills and gimicks to go along with their relationships. Those things are simply not true anymore. Women have enough freedom to be economicaly independant,and the family structure and dating rituals are no longer important.
Women may be becoming more promiscuous because they no longer feel pressured to settle down, they now have a choice as to whom they want to be with and for what reasons. Basicaly, their is no reason for the modern women to want flowers, to want to be fed, to be proficient in cooking and cleaning, or to generaly fit any of the feminen roles in a relationship, because we no longer depend on men to provide for us.
This is also why men do not like promiscuous women. Women who do not care about marriage and conventional relationships are generaly dominant. They are not the stereotypical submissive woman, which throws the balance of power off in a relationship. Guys are naturaly intimidated by a woman who threatens their masculinity and leadership role within the family. The main way for men to deal with this threat in our culture is to put these women down with derogitory terms and to associate their sexual promiscuity with other negative traits which they feel do not extend to their own promiscuity.
In that way, yes their is a double standard, but it is an understandable one in the case of men because they are simply trying to maintain a balanced family structure and gender roles that have been the norm throughout history. Honestly, in my opinion. I agree with this article 95%
I am not being sexist, ladies, I am a girl too. But what you should really see in this article is that many girls now-a-days are very … well… slutty.
I don’t mind a man who had quite a few sexual flings, or whatever, but as long as I know that he really loves me, I would give him a chance of being in a relationship with me.
I am not the kind of girl who would do these things, mentioned in this article. Infact, I know many girls who are like this who even try to coax me into this. I really dislike girls who are like this, and honestly, I see many of them, and they accumulate all the more as years pass by.
My acquaintances, note that I didn’t say friends, have complained numerous times why they cannot meet a decent guy, while I can. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings but I did leave a few hints along the way.
The reason why I meet decent guys, or atleast ex-bad boys who are now looking for a serious relationship or just actual friendship, is because like I said, I don’t talk, walk, act, nor dress up like one.
I value my privacy and I value being at home or going out with friends by eating out. Honestly, I tried going to nightclubs, a total of twice my whole life, I’m 20 now, but I just really don’t like it.
Those acquaintances of mine do exactly the opposite of what I do. They love going to nightclubs AND dress as if they were hired by the actual club to invite more drunk visitors inside.
I am not just siding with the men, ladies…
and dear men, I know many of you will grow out of this stage, and yes I know deep inside many of you are actual gentleman.
I know for a fact that if you respect yourself, people will respect you as much. If you respect them, they will respect you just as much as well.
