Kayla Gerdes is a bright 18 year old girl who decided she’d go on a joyride with her van. And since a sober joyride is boring, she decided to get high on painkillers first. Unfortunately Kayla’s joyride turned into vehicular manslaughter when she barreled into a woman’s yard and killed her.
Police say Kayla Gerdes was high on painkillers when she drove a van onto the front lawn and into a house in Hempstead, killing homeowner Rebecca Twine-Wright, 69, who was mowing her lawn.
So I bet you’re thinking “Damn that girl must feel awful” right? Wrong. This is what she told police.
“The thing that made me feel not so bad was she was old. “I mean, 70 years is a long time to live.”
I guess it’s true what they say. You can’t have manslaughter without laughter. Was a handful of vicodin and some residential speeding was worth it?
