How can you talk about cars witihout mentioning John Frankenheimer’s “Ronin”? The chase with the BMW and Peugeot is classic, better than “Bullitt”, especially because it required no trickery, no impossible stunts, and most importantly, most of the driving was done by the actors themselves as with many Frankenheimer movies (e.g. “Grand Prix”). Skipp Sidduth, who played Larry the wheelman is an accomplished amateur rally racer.

Also, how can you mention the crappy “Cannonball Run” movies without mentioning 1967′s “Gumball Rally”, the film it ripped off? The AC Cobra, the Rolls Royce, the Jaguar, the Mercedes, etc., what beautiful cars. Like Frankenheimer, Charles Ball (director of “Gumball Rally”) had the actors do most of their own driving and stunts.

Very nice article!! The only car that I was disappointed wasn’t on the list was the blown ’69 GTO Judge from “My Science Project” (my absolute dream car! Has been since that movie was released!!)

Also, John Milners Ford Coupe from American Graffiti…
