To each their own. I think body modification is a sort of hobby for some people. And it has nothing to do with hating your parents, that’s just silly. Maybe being unique could come in to play… can’t do that with tattoos or piercings since they have been popularized. If it makes people happy or feel good about themselves, I’m all for it.

Body modification is not just for angst ridden rebellious teenagers. Many “normal” adults are pierced and/or tattooed,
Subdermal implants are simply another option for those who wish to take their art that one step further. I myself am a proud parent of 4 wonderful children – I am also a body modification artist and while a large portion of my clients are teenagers, just as many are adults ranging in age from late 20’s to mid 70’s.
I may not have always had a perfect relationship with my parents, but not once did/have I modified my body out of spite, or to try and upset/hurt them.
Just because we are pierced/tattooed or modified, doesn’t make us bad people…maybe you should try being a little bit more open minded and stop judging others based on their appearance.
Their body modification isn’t affecting you, so why do you care so deeply? If they want to change their appearance, then good on them. It doesn’t mean they’re stupid, or clueless. Why don’t YOU get a hobby, rather than insulting practices you don’t understand?
