A man in New York got the famous number (867 5309) for free 5 years ago. Recently, he put the number up on eBay.

Spencer Potter, who got the number for free five years ago, said he was “definitely a little shocked” that eBay bids topped $365,000 by Tuesday morning for the number made famous Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny” hit. – cnn

Talk about sentimental value, jesus.  I know a guy who had an ICQ number where the last 4 digits ended in 1337.  He was bribed with a Quake 2 CD key to give up the account and it worked.  In hindsight I think he wishes that he would have asked for more – theres no telling how much someone will pay for something that speaks to their heart (no matter how retarded).
