Yesterday I stumbled onto an entertaining thread. There is a forum with over 2000 posts and it only has one user. Naturally, something like this makes everyone turn their head sideways (like a confused German Shepard) and say ‘what the fuck’.
After doing some digging around it was later noted that this poor guy has autism.
Unfortunately, this had already gone viral in every way possible.
Lets take a look at how the different communities reacted to this thread (the really compassionate stuff is in the 4chan pic)

When they fuck around with *someone*, especially when that person is disabled, it’s wrong on all levels. I’ve just found this via reddit so I don’t know how far they have gone with it, but if they griefed him in any way, I hope karma takes note.
Why is the fact that this guy is using bulletin board software instead of blog software such a big deal?
If someone had 2000 posts on their blog, or livejournal, or whatever, no one would care. Quite clearly he’s not having conversations with himself, but keeping more of a journal of sorts.
If anything, this guy gets props for actually knowing how to set up a piece of software instead of punching words into a box on LJ or blogspot.

The guys at 4chan are more autistic than this guy could ever be if he was trying. Not only do they not know how to form relationships or deal with people, they actually circle-jerk each other around their own threads while they intentionally use psycho-social garbage to communicate with those outside their little hole in the intertubes.
Sure, their funny SOMETIMES.. but they’re no different than anyone else with extreme emotional or psychological conditions. You can see where they hate comes from, though.. people hate in others what they hate most in themselves. It’s kind of sad and funny in it’s own way.
I saw the thread on 4chan. You picked out the worst part cuntface, a lot of people were saying that he was already crazy enough, so why fuck with him.
Whether this guy is authistic or not (ehm, that been prooved?) people may think his forum is ridiculous. I personally don’t find it ridiculous, simply odd.
So if a nonauthistic person does something stupid, it’s fine to make fun of him, but not if it’s an authistic person? Strange morals, some people have…
4chan needs to fuck around with people because otherwise they are never going to learn that if you put shit on the internet for the world to see, the world WILL find it. In the case of naked drunken pictures on myspace/facebook ect your bf/gf will find it, your family will find it, your future employers will find it and it will come back to bite you. And once its out there in public Anonymous never forgets it, its saved somewhere forever.

This is a cherry picking of what must be a much longer thread for each of SA, Digg, Reddit, and 4Chan. Especially with the speed that the last 3 update, you haven’t said much about the community by taking a 6-7 post screenshot.
4chan reminds me a lot of Nolan’s Joker in the Dark Knight. Sure he’ll help the criminal underworld get what it wants, but in the end, he’s just wants them to get it so he can burn it all to the ground.

Fascinating really. I applaud and consider this man to be very intelligent. He completely drew thousands, if not tens of thousands (likely many, many more), of people’s attention in a simple way. I do not pity him. There is no need to. I could, in fact, envy him for what he has done. This much traffic going to his website, and with one single user. Again, fascinating.
And bulletin boards like 4chan (specifically) really shouldn’t even be considered here, too many minors that cover their insecurities with the shield of the world wide web. (I.E. you don’t know me, you can’t hurt me.)

I don’t understand the big deal. I do this too. I’m not autistic so the sentence structure may be different. However, some of this stuff looks like the same stuff I’d write in my own notebook, except with the internet I don’t use notebooks anymore. I have a separate email account that I actually email myself at, at least twice a day. I tried to use Google notebook or Zoho, but in the end I found I’m just more comfortable emailing myself. Nobody else emails me at it. If you opened it you’d have the exact same look of WTF on your face. Try it. It’s not as crazy as you think.
I’ll send few lines of HTML or Javascript that I’m working on in it or when I have a doctor’s appointment or when my favorite show is coming on or what I think about something when I just want to write something that I can go over later or to send a file to myself or something I see online. Then I can access it from wherever in a format I’m comfortable with, but perhaps this person just likes the structure of the forum more.
The only thing I’m worried about is their privacy, but perhaps they don’t care. It just seems weird because they’re using a public medium for a personal use, but I do the same with my email. I really don’t think it’s that strange. If you can find another use for something other than what it was designed for than so what? As long as it helps you with what you’re trying to do.

I don’t think you can judge any of these sites by a small snippet of their responses.
That said, fucking with a public figure is fair game. Fucking with a lonely individual is not.
4chan has the capacity to be funny sometimes but the thing is anime really sucks and the fact that they have crossdressing boards only goes to show you how gay they really are
I agree with Rudd-O that Reddit is misrepresented. Almost all the users tend to fall back on snarky comments instead of sharing knowledge.
I’m the person who originally posted this on SA, I didn’t realize how big this would get, to be fair I’ll say 4chan users weren’t bad with the exception of a few 13 year old kids in /b/ but /r9k/ was very sensible. Congrats.
I’ve known this guy since 2001, when he used to post on a bunch of forums I visited. He still goes to the one I go to most often now. He’s always been strange but he’s a real good guy. As you and the rest of the internet now know, his stuff is just plain fun to read. I’m glad to see that nobody is really trying to ruin him, even if it IS just out of sheer pity. I guess what I’m saying is, thank you, Internet, for not being as bad as I thought.

People should stop calling /b/ 4chan. I followed the threads on /b/, /v/ and /r9k/ and the only completely stupid one was the one on /b/. It’s pretty much the worst place on the internet, full of underage internet tough guys. The rest of 4chan is far better.

Geez. 4chan is a great place, but like many other great internet sites it has been flodded with rtards who have nothing better to do than follow the unthinking majority. 4chan itself is a great entertaining forum that is best enjoyed when one is in a forum with intelligent people. But all of these crazy misguided trollers and spammers and whatnot, Gawd it just blows my mind!
